I'm thinking about saving up for a DPMS Arctic Panther, but don't know too much about them other than what I've read in a magazine. From what I hear they are quite accurate, however, once again I don't know much about them, so any info or reviews would be appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time.

I wonder why they didn't make the buttstock white, too.

You can make any rifle an "arctic" rifle, though, by wrapping it with medical gauze and securing it with 100mph tape. (Field expedient method...Russkies do this with their SVDs.)

I've seen one and I was less than impressed by it...

Reason being? The powder coat was on EVERYTHING, the lower and upper appeared to be dipped then had it's powder coat baked.

Don't know about you, but I'd prefer not to have the powdercoat inside my upper receiver or for that matter have it on the rails of my receiver just so that the tolerances would be what they are meant to be.

Only benefit to having the powdercoat inside the upper receiver that I could possibly see, it would make cleaning a breeze as carbon fouling would be easy as heck to spot and probably wipe up easily. Still though, don't like the idea of it.

Looked cool from the outside when looking at it on the gunshop rack, but when I had it in my hands and cycled the bolt it suddenly lost some of it's appeal.

the one I had my mitts on around 5 years ago, yep, had powdercoat all over the inside of the upper/lower receivers.

If you want a white ( or other color) gun, I've had pretty decent luck using the camo spray paints available for bowhunters. They aren't as durable as polyurethane, but they are easily (and cleanly) removable when you want to change to a different color.
