DS Arms FAL receivers...

I'm starting to think that the "DS" in DS Arms stands for "Delayed Significantly"

I ordered my Type II receiver back in October with a projected delivery of mid January. They just responded to my request for a status update saying that they have been filling the back orders but they are not expecting another shipment until next month (April??!!). This is what I get for rushing out and getting my parts kit from gunpartsguy.com - having everything in hand except the receiver is torture.

So, if you have plans to get a DSA receiver before November (or January's inauguration) you better get on it! At least I can look at everyone else's pretty FAL pictures posted here...

Well if you look at it from a business perspective you can see why.

You can sell a receiver only for $400 or so, maybe a profit of $150 if you don't make them yourself.

Or you can sell a completed rifle for $1500 or so with a profit of $300-400, more on higher end models.

I wouldn't have many receivers left to sell either if it were my company, I'd only sell production overruns or blems.

There's just not that much money in selling blank receivers.

I called DSA for a complete FAL back in November and I had it 6 days so Delayed Significantly doesn't apply to everything they do.

Fulton and LRB both have MUCH longer wait times for M14 receivers. LRB is saying 2 years or more before they have any.

So, it could be worse I guess.

Bottom line is if you're in a hurry to get something before the election you're gonna have to pay for the whole thing.

What I don't understand is why the delay for all of them. Is there some problem with machining these things? FAL and M14 both.

I was in the same boat. I ordered one for Christmas... sheesh two years ago now... and did not get it till the spring. But IMHO it is worth the wait. My Type one is perfect. My smith complained of some barrel timing issues... but that is why I pay him.
Texas hit the nail on the head... DSA mills these things so I was confused on the delay. But I kept after them and I guess they got tired of hearing from me cause mine came in "early" though it was 3 months after the expected date.

Hang in there, you'll love it when it gets there and you have one heck of a foundation to build on.

Ordered about the last week of January and just shipped last week. (about 7 weeks)
