My AR15 is astounding my by how well it shoots, in fact I'm now considering using it to replace my bench gun.
Right now I run a Leupold 2x7x33 mounted using a weigand combat 3 ring set (weaver) for hunting and general range work. But I'd like to be able to switch to a Leupold 36x for load development and group shooting. I don't need a high speed QD system but I would like to be able to swap to the hunting scope and retain a reasonable expectation of not completely losing my zero.
The rub on this is the upper used is a RRA high rise, So anything taller than a low ring is not going to provide a cheek weld
For those of you that do swap optics about on your ar's what kind of POI shifts do you typically see and what mounting systems are you using?
