Probably a dumb question, but when I attach the sling that came with my yugo sks, what's the right way? The only way it seems to work is if I attach that clip on the top of the pic to the mount on the gas valve. But the problem is when I use the sling, the clip locks in a 90 degree angle to the gun and I have to push it back down every time the gun is picked up. It is because the metal bar where the clip hooks on is square and bigger than the circular part of the clip. So the clip won't rotate freely and will just lock sticking out because of the square shape. I can't use the clip on the bottom sling swivel because I can't loop the opposite end thorugh the slot on the gas valve area (Because the flat metal peice of the sling is too wide.) I must just be missing something and I'm attaching it wrong? :banghead:

I have one of those Yugo slings also and I don't like that clip either. I don't use mine on my Yugo SKS or my Yugo AK. The Yugo leather slings are better, if you can find one, try Samco. Or the green Chinese slings if you want canvas.

There are no dumb questions.

Also consider finding a Russian SKS or AK sling.

I just assumed that the clip wouldn't be desgnied in such a way, so I thought I must be doing something wrong. So it's just a bad design then?

Try bending the clip out a little bit with a screwdriver or something. I had to do that to get one of mine to work right.

One of them had the problem you mention of not going through the swivel too. I noticed the swivel is smaller than the one on my other rifle.

So it's just a bad design then?

That's the conclusion I came to. But I really like the Yugo leather slings if you want one that is origin appropriate. Otherwise there's lots of others to choose from.
