Springfield Trapdoor Sling Help

Allright, I feel like an idiot because I just can't figure this darn thing out. Picked up a repro Springfield Trapdoor sling out of sportsmansguide, was a good deal. Got it in the mail and looked it over, and just can't figure out the right way it's supposed to hook up. One end is a button loop like on the front of the Yugo Mauser slings, the rear section is brass, 2 claw that fits into the holes on the sling.

The way I'm guessing is that the button end goes around one of the sling swivels, the claw end loops through and back on itself? Anyone know off hand?

Button end goes through the butt swivel, short end to the wood, long end out.
Bring long hook end up to the forend swivel and feed down towards butt hooking at the hole of your choice, claws out.
