I presume you mean some sort of 'tactical' shotgun class (as opposed to a clay shooting class or whatever).
In that case, I'd recommend a pouch that (i) allows the flap to be secured open, and (ii) has elastic lips over the mouth to retain shells. This model from Tactical Tailor fits the bill, and I've used it in a couple classes:
Guys using sporting-type pouches without the elastic lips will sometimes find themselves littering the range with shotshells. Ask me how I know .
That particular pouch from TT has webbing on two sides that will accept shell loop panels. So you can set it up with an additional 12 exterior elastic loops. It winds up being a pretty pricey piece of kit at that point, but ammunition management/organization seems to be one of the main challenges in these types of classes. The last thing you want is to be running steel at 7 yards and load a slug when you think you're loading birdshot. The exterior loops give you a way to segregrate and organize a different type of load.
