I’ll use it in my Remington 742 30-06… That gun is a 1.5-2” gun at 100 yards

I would shoot it in the OPs intended application, what the OP does is strictly his call. If I were running red line 5.56 loads, probably not, but in a 30-06 with 50ish grain charges, absolutely.

In the 30-06, I doubt you could tell the difference over a chronograph or strain gauge.
