Saw an ad in Horse and Rider today (yes, I skim my wife's four legged money pit magazines) for a pair of Dunn knives and so went to their website.

Now unlike some of you I have no idea what it means if a knife is made of S30V steel hardened to a Rockwell C scale number of 59-60.

I do like the looks of some of the knives, especially the little double sheath and paired knives in the ad.

They are made here in Florida about 2 and a half hours down the road, close for Floridians as we are a lot bigger state than most folks realize, and only about half as far away as my wife's job.

Anyone know anything about them or have experience with the knives or the folks?

I haveno experience with Dunn knives. S30V is a tough stainless steel, better than most. It holds an edge well, but a diamond hone is recomended for sharpening. Hardened to RC59-60 means it is tough without being brittle. What price point are you looking at? The only site I could find is a semi-custom knife place. http://www.dunnknives.com/home.html

JeffG,

Well I was just interested by the picture in the ad. Not likely to actually buy anything as I am like a baby chicken "Cheap-cheap-cheap"

I did think that if I were younger that that double sheath set up they offer would be nice with say their preditor in one sleeve and one of the rounded skinners in the other.......but if I was younger $300 would be even more un obtainable.

I was curious if I am seeing the handles correctly. They seemed to be notched to place a thumb and or finger in a groove so the front of the grip sort of acts as a guard and aid in not slipping off the handle in either direction. With the laminates that seems a good idea.......maybe worth stealing for personal builds of simple knives.
