I bought the Dura Coat Level II kit from Brownells a week ago. Well I started to take a Mossy 500 apart and thought it might be a better idea to try my hand at something smaller first.

So I looked around the gun room and I saw 4 La Belle mags sitting there. So I took the base plates, springs and followers out and headed out to the shed!

And after 2 hours of drying and 45 min in the oven

And in the gun

BTW: If you think about buying the kit, be for warned the spray gun sucks! I threw it away after I was finished fighting with it to get an even spray pattern.

I'll be buying a better spray gun before I decide to re do any of my guns.

I also bought a few ounces of their OD Green Dura Coat, I might order me a new AR upper and lower and try doing them in the OD. What the hell, I need something to kill time with!

Well if you're that bored I'll bring my AR mags over and you can duracoat those for me!

Looks good!

Looks nice!

I tried Gunkoting some AR mags in dark gray a while back. Unfortunately I forgot about them in the oven for about a half an hour too long and now they're golden brown.

I think that's called Coyote now and there's an extra charge for that.

Looking good! I was thinking about practicing on my Hi-Point carbine....maybe a two-tone OD/HK Black color scheme.

LOL! I should probably sell them on the AR15.com equipment exchange. :D

quick question, how did you put them in the oven? just on a rack?
When I bake parts I Gunkote, I just put them on a cookie sheet pan. The mags I just stood up on the pan. Of course Gunkote dries to the touch almost immediately. The baking just hardens it. I'm not sure how that works with Duracoat or Norrells.

You can make little stands and holders out of bits of wire or wire coat hangers. I've done that.
