Just got my Citadel 1911 back from being duracoated, looks amazing. The finish before was less than desirable. The gun itself is a great shooter and the price can't be beat. Novak cut Trijicon night sights were added and I am totally happy with the gun now.

Duracoat work was done by Jonathan Wyatt, he can be contacted via his website @ weapon-art.com. Custom night sight installation was done by John Barr he also does custom 1911 work and can be contacted @ [email protected]. They both occupy the same location and can do combo work if needed. Both are outstanding individuals with great customer service and are located in the Houston area.

I've always liked Hogue wrap-arounds and the finger groves, they fit and feel better in my hands allowing me to get a good deep grip. I have some on my Beretta 92fs and slip-ons on all my pistols except the M&P.

Is that a 2-tone finish, or am I just blind? My RIA's are parkerized, and the frames appear slightly different colored than the rest. Just wondering if this is the case here, or actually different colors.

I LIKE. My local shop had a RI. compact like. Finish was so so, sites were military. I would have done the exact same thing you did. cept I am still waiting on my Springer Ultra Compact Loaded.

How much did that run?
I have the exact same gun, no finish problems yet, but it would be spiffy to have a plan in case the finish starts to wear.

Do you find the rubber grips cumbersome for carry? I went the opposite direction with slimline alumagrips, but then I like the ergonomics of thin guns, so the thick rubber grips baffle me.

The factory sights are in standard Novak dovetails, right?

is "painting" a 1911 any worse or better than the guys who Krylon a Glock???
I'm going to say the Duracoat is going to be a better option.

This whole Duracoat notion is growing on me more and more... looks like it was very nicely done. Congrats on it... looks sharp !

Looks great!! I had the same pistol with the same grips and ran 200gr +p hollow points through her with perfect function for CC. Like the Duracoat and the night sights as well, well done.

The two tone duracoat job was $165, for one color its $150.

The rubber grips are fine, no hassle to carry, they don't get in the way for me at all. I carried the gun only three times before it was sent off for the job for about 4 hours each time.

Yes, the factory sights are Novak cut, however some extra fitting had to be done.

Never mind the naysayers; your pistol looks great. I like the two tone finish of black and gray. Enjoy.

I sort of like the two-tone, but I think I'd go dark gray all over and ask them to do my alumagrips while they're at it. All that I could find in stock in slimline officer's size was olive drab back when I ordered.
