I never found a .22 "garden gun" for my ground squirells on patio problem. The .410 was just a little too much with #9 shot, it chewed statuary ect. up and I didn't want to hit the neighbors a few hundred yards away ( I KNOW, but I don't like pointing guns towards inhabited places I can see and hear people at!). I had a problem! Cheaper than Dirt came to the rescue with their Rio brand .410 2 1/2" 'dust shot' loads. They have 1/2 oz. of #12 shot with a light powder charge . In my full choked single barrel H&Rs they BLOW away 3 or 4 ground squirrels at one shot from 50 feet when they are tightly bunched eating the geese food at the end of my patio pond outside my bedroom.I just wait until they gather, put the bead over they group and go out with a shovel! I killed 9 since Sunday with 3 shots! They keep coming back, the goose pond being the only water around, they come from the closest pasture which they infest, and I shoot there constantly with .17s and .22s (50-75 yard shots and it is getting pretty suburban around here!) Any way this dust shot is great, I amsure it doesn't travel more than 300 feet or so, but inside 50 feet it rocks! The .410 is a heck of a lot more shot that any .22 or pistol shot round. I also bought a box of the 12ga. 1 oz #12 Rio rounds , for the heck of it!
