I'm going to need a lot more explanation of what this is supposed to DO. 500 meters with a 1911 or other service sidearm is a "stupid gun trick" -- if it can indeed be pulled off -- and anyone with the skills to make a hit at that distance with THESE sights would be able to do it with any other good, crisp sights. (And there's not enough front sight blade to make that hold-over in the sights in the linked article.)

Seeing as I've no purpose for my sidearms beyond 100 yards (...beyond 25 yards mostly) this purports to answer a question I don't need answered. Rather than thinking this finally solves the nagging problem of 500 meter shots with a 1911, I'd instead be wondering if these are as good as other first-rate combat sights that would seem more appropriate on that weapon.

+1

Standard 1911 sights are perfectly capable of 100+ yard shots.
If the shooter is.

And the sights do not obscure the target as the ad copy indicates.

What you do is, perch the target on top of the front sight.
Then hold enough front sight over the rear sight to make the shot.

It's relatively easy to do if you try it.
And are a really good pistol shot.

I'm still wondering who's got good enough eyes to peer all the way past the end of their arm(s), down the top of the slide, and then through the tiny peep hole in the front sight to find the target centered in it?

... Let alone see clearly enough through that little hole three feet away, to tell if you can see 20" of the enemy or 16" or 36" or whatever.

The more I ponder this the sillier I feel for bothering to try.
