This is just a curiosity question for the LEO’s although anyone can join in the fun.

The idea of ‘dynamic entry’ is to catch the people off-guard. Basically swoop in before they can react. Say you ran into a hardened situation where you are unable to penetrate the upstairs for a period of time. In my case it will take a Sawzall, torch, hydraulic devices, or explosives. Anything can be breached but it takes time. By the time it is done I will be well aware of the situation. Few street criminals are going to stick around after a tour of “Freddy’s Fun House” much less try to get through the upstairs barrier. It would be a certainty that it is LE that has made the entry. This would eliminate the use of force on my part. In point of fact it eliminates the use of force period. Since bad guys can’t get to the family I’ll just call the cops and let them handle it.

What would the cops do when I walk down the stairs? At this point the surprise element is gone. Would I end up on the floor in cuffs or would I be taken outside while a normal search is conducted? This is simply a theoretical question since it is VERY unlikely to happen.

I'm not a LEO, but I bet That you would be restrained (cuffed) and led outside for questioning. (about what other surprises you might have in store and also the investigation that brought them to your house in the first place.) Outside would be logical in case you do have other "surprises". That said, there are worse things than being cuffed, even in front of the family and neighbors.

If the police are responding to your call for assistance I don't see any reason to cuff you, you're the victim. Just identify yourself as the person who called.

Normal procedure around here when responding to an alarm activation of a call about an intruder in the home is to ask the homeowner to step outside. This helps us tell if the call about the alarm being actually a false alarm is being made under duress.
