EAA Bounty Hunter .44 mag

Interested in you opinions.

Has anyone seen, owned, fired one of the EAA Bounty Hunters in .44 magnum? I know all the problems with EAA and their customer service, but aside from that what is your experience?:confused:

I really down think I would buy any cowboy type SA in 44mag. Its not a hunting pistol so 45 cal or 357/38 yes but not a eaa bounty hunter.

Save your bucks and buy a used Ruger Vaquero or a Cimarron , made by uberti or the maker Uberti revolver . Go to Cimarrons site and look at all the models.
 
The Big Bore Bounty Hunter is a LOT tougher revolver than the Uberti. It's built like the old Vaquero. The trigger pull is a bit heavy, but that is cheap and easy to fix with a Wolff spring.
I've heard some people speak of problems with EAA CS, but I've ordered parts for my Russian air rifle from them and have no complaints.

Plus, if the gun is well made, durable, and accurate, you will likely NEVER need their CS.

You'll pay more money for a Uberti that won't hold up as well as a Bounty Hunter.
Plus, the Bounty Hunter has a transfer bar safety, so you can carry it loaded with 6 rounds, safely.
Ask duelist 1954 what he thinks about the EAA Big Bore Bounty Hunter. He owns/shoots them and thinks highly of them.

If you want to hunt with one, I'd recommend the .44 mag or .45 Colt 7.5" barrel.
The BBBH will hold up to hot loads a lot better than the Uberti, because it's a more heavily built gun.
If you want a cowboy gun just for fun, then the Uberti and New Vaquero are going to weigh and handle more like a Colt SAA.
I like Uberti and Ruger a lot, don't get me wrong. But the BBBH is stout.
 
The ideal solution would be for you to buy one of each. One Ruger, one Uberti, and one BBBH.
Then, you can decide which one you like best and sell the others to me. :)

You can get one with the CCH frame for $370.00 on Gunbroker.
 
I bought one of the nickel plated bounty hunters last year new from buds for $280. Didn't know what to expect but thought I couldn't go wrong at that price. Trigger was gritty compared to a Ruger, balance wasn't as nice as the Uberti Callahan I own, accuracy was acceptable for a fixed sight revolver at plinking distances. It was sure fun to shoot and never gave me any issues. I wouldn't buy one expecting Ruger quality, but for the right price Id' recommend one.
 
One thing I read or see with owners are so mixed and mosty bad so why invest in a probably problem. You want a 44mag buy a used or new ruger then and be done with all others. Atleast with the Ruger BH in 45lc you can still shot hot heavy loads none of the other dare shot and have quality company behind it.
 
I'm still trying to find the Company without any issues or complaints. So far I have had an experience of the bad nature with every MFG out there. Some come out great and others are duds. If you differ on that opinion put me on to the one with zero bad feedback.
 
intercooler Guess I have not had many issues, only 2 firearms in 46 years had to go back. . Only pistol to go back were brand new. A KT p-11 and a ruger rifle for what it figured to be accuracy issues that ended up a a custom. Even my cw9 kahr was local shooters nighmare but been great for me with no changes. Bought another one and it to has been great. Hows your witness been. I had a elit match for a few years for match play. 6 mags and a great pistol. Heavy but accurate as heck. Run right around 12,000 rounds thru it before finding I could no long run around. The guy that now has it likes it too. I had to tune the lips of 2 mags. Is that whay you conceder a issue?? I have had more trouble with stuff around the house than firearms.
 
The Match and Hunter have been flawless. Maybe my two best pistols and so accurate! My collection has some new ones just added that may be great too. Time will tell!

I did have an EAA Polymer 10mm that was used and problematic. Traded it on the GP100 (Tank). Bought a used Redhawk and it had a tweaked frame which Ruger issued me a brand new one about a month ago. Had a new P22 which was coming apart quickly so sold it. My S&W 22A-1 just had a frame break and it's at S&W now. I like the stable right now!
