How do you manage to wear muffs when shooting rifles and shotguns?

When I try this, the stock pushes the muffs out of position when i press my cheek against it.

I have been using various plugs because of this, but would like to double up.

Do the "Slim" muffs make enough difference to allow them to work with long guns?

Thanks!

Bob

Plugs and muffs. I put my muffs on at the gate to the range before I ever get anywhere near the line.

Never been a problem for me, you can cock them so the are on the back of your head with the long way horizontal to the ground

If you make a living listening to music, you need plugs with at least a NRR of 25 and preferrably 30. I shoot in competition and sometimes 3 gun so I frequently double up with plugs of 28NRR and electronic muffs of 19-15NRR for an overall of 33NRR. At the very least 28NRR plugs-I wear these also when I'm flying commercial.

Bob, the ones that look big and bulky are, well, big and bulky and you will have some problem with them getting in the way of getting your cheek to the stock, especially shooting from the bench. The slimmer ones are usually no problem at all. Go down to the gunshop and try some on while bringing a rifle or shotgun to your shoulder, you will soon find some that work just fine.
