i just bought an old westernfield m550ab 12 ga (essentially a mossberg 500) with the 26in barrel and c-lect-choke for $150. on this is a nicely mounted scope rail, and on the rail is an "aimpoint electronic" red dot sight. this (and the "L" and "up" on windage and el adj) is the only writing visible when the scope is mounted, but when removed, cast into the bottom it says "MADE IN SWEDEN", "038113832", and "FA1". the optics are small (18mm i think), with a 1X (or no) magnification. the optics portion is 130mm (5") long, with the overall length being 160mm (6+1/8th"). this seems like an early red dot, as the wind, and el adjustments are external ( by external i mean that the base is split, and the adjustment moves the top half of the base with the sight attached).

does anyone have any information on these?

the forward lens retainer is knurled, is this lens able to be exchanged for different magnification?

how durable/desirable are these?

any info is appreciated, thanks.

14427h, thanks for the link. the one i have is the aimpoint electronic G2, evidently.

first launched in 1978. still working today. it was aimpoints second sight that they made.

as far as batteries go, they call for a pc1a (x2), but the ones in the unit are a LR50. both seem to be still available as clock batteries, from $5-$8 each.

thanks for the info!

does anyone have hands on experience with these sights?
