we shot trap today and i went a little early to shoot the S&W .32 revolver. i fired 12 rounds to get a feel for it and then fired 6 rounds at 21 feet at a small circle on a piece of cardboard with a two hand hold, i think i can do better with a little pratice. but it will do for potting sitting rabbits. it shot and ejected all rounds with out a bobble. eastbank.

That's some mighty nice shooting for the first time out with your new S&W! Looks like there's potential here for some decent accuracy.

the thin front sight and narrow groove rear sight are hard on these old eyes, i think i,ll try putting black majic marker on them to see if it helps. and the small grip does not help much, but the quality of the older S&W revolvers are leaps and bounds above the other older so called sucide revolvers i have had over the years of collecting. i think if you rode into dodge with that on your hip you would have been laughed out of town as a eastern dude. eastbank.

I recently took my 1896 out for a test run. When I first bought it the gun had a significant bulge in the barrel which I shortened to remove the bulge. It did not have the extractor button so I gave it to locale so called gunsmith to have him make one. When I got it back he had taken the cylinder apart, apparently without putting spent cartridges in the chambers. He nearly sheared off the indexing tab in the cylinder. I ended up buying a cylinder and yoke assembly off Ebay and fitting it to the gun. I shot it with the cartridge that was introduced at the same time (.32S&WL)
It's not a collector but it sure is fun to shoot, and mechanically it is dead on. Also shoots accurately considering the moderate pitting in the bore. I also have a nice shooting 1903 and three more 1903's I am putting back into shooting condition. None are collector quality due mostly to finish, but all will be fun shooters.

Mine looks just like that, but with a shorter barrel. As the OP said, the sights aren't great, and mine has a kind of stiff trigger, but it is well-made and accurate if I do my part. I am glad 32's aren't popular right now, because that makes them less expensive for those of us who enjoy them.

Same here, but some 1.0 or 1.25 readers really help.
