Enter the Kara's HoPE Raffle to win an heirloom quality, fully engraved, custom 1911 handgun from Ed Brown Products. Valued at approximately $7,000, this piece comes with a custom holster and dress belt set valued at over $1,200. There will be a maximum of 2,000 tickets sold at $40 each.

Kara’s HoPE is a non-profit organization devoted to improving the lives of special needs children and their families. One of our primary focuses is on children with the life limiting brain condition known as Holoprosencephally. HPE is generally a life limiting condition where the brain has not fully developed during pregnancy. These special children do not always fit a particular medical pattern however all have needs that place tremendous stresses on their families.

I encouraged the representative of Kara's Hope to post this here. It has been running on TFL a while and I wanted to be sure THR members got a chance at the pistol. It's obviously for a good cause, and the pistol is gorgeous.

Go to the Kara's Hope website and click on "Custom 1911 RAFFLE" to see the whole deal.

Thanks everyone for the support we've seen so far!

Feel free to PM me or e-mail me directly at [email protected] for ways you can help other than just contributing financially. We appreciate all the support we can get!

We're still catching up on logging the entries from Thursday and Friday, but we'll have all those caught up and confirmed over the weekend. Thanks!

Don't forget to give us a shout on your facebook or twitter accounts...

Have a great weekend!

Catching up on Saturday's entries this evening. Don't forget to post our link to your facebook or twitter accounts... Sometimes the donation of "bandwidth" is just as important as cash...;)

Thanks everyone!

I ordered one ticket. After all, one is all it takes. I was hesitent to complete the order when I looked and the internet site and was not a "https//" site. Enough people here posted postively about it that I went ahead. At least they did not ask for the security code on my card. Don't mean to rain on the parade, but now-a-days it pays to be careful.

YankeeRebel,

Thanks for the feedback on the website!I have a company re-doing things so I'll ask them to look at the "https://" issue and see what we can do. (I'm not a computer guy myself.)

When someone enters though, the link to the credit card processing company is secure and one of the best in the country. They're PCI compliant (I think that's the proper term) anyway and we don't even get to see the card number on our side when the transaction comes through.

Long story short, thanks for the support! Please don't forget to "share" on your other social media outlets as well. We really do appreciate the help!

My wife and I are expecting a little girl soon, by all accounts she seems to be very healthy at this point. I really wanted to help your cause. I bought a ticket. Best of luck to you in your efforts and God bless.

Just a quick update to say the outpouring of support has been tremendous. If you've entered in the past couple of days, check your e-mail for your confirmations. I only have a few more to respond to and those should go out by mid-morning.

This is a great opportunity to win a fantastic prize and do something worthwhile in the process. If you know others who would like to see the opportunity, by all means, feel free to post a link to your facebook or twitter accounts.

Best of luck to everyone!

Stonecutter2 - Congratulations on your little girl. They're all special aren't they? (We also have a teenage daughter and I can tell you about a few things you have to look forward to... :D )

CoRoMo - Best of luck to you too! Be sure to tell your friends. ;)

Still processing a few entries from yesterday and through today, mid-afternoon. Check your e-mail later this evening.

Good Luck!

Not trying to bump this too often, but just so everyone knows, the entries have been logged and confirmed through Thursday afternoon. Thursday evening and Friday entries will get caught up over the weekend.

The support has been tremendous so far and the shooting community has really stepped up (like we always do...) to the opportunity to help others. Please don't forget to share this opportunity with your fellow 1911 enthusiasts, (and Glock lovers too...) they'll be grateful for the opportunity to help and the chance to win a great prize package.

Best of luck to everyone!

Every time I try to donate for a ticket, I get the message this: "The QuickShop store you tried to access is invalid."

Sam

Sam,

Are you on the home page or the raffle page? Which browser are you using and are "cookies" enabled?

Clicking on one of the donate buttons should take you to the https:// site for a card processing company called "Pay Junction" and depending on the browser, it may not take you to the proper site.

I can get in using Explorer, Firefox and Chrome... I get a "quick shop" error message if I click on the home page "donate" button without having entered an amount first, but it looks like all the other HTML code is in working order on our end...

Try going directly here: http://karashope.weebly.com/custom-1911-raffle.html

Sorry you're having problems but we appreciate the effort. Worst case scenario, you are welcome to mail a donation directly. Be sure to include a good return address, your e-mail and a phone number so we can get your entry confirmed and returned to you. Our address is in the "Rules" page or on the contact page.

All the best!

FYI: All entries have been updated and responded to as of Tuesday afternoon, August 23rd.

Check your e-mail for your confirmations and your "e-ticket" numbers.

Thanks again for the support, and as always, please don't forget to share the event with your friends...

Caught up on Tuesday evening and Wednesday entries as well. Thanks everyone. BTW, feel free to post here if you are a supporter. I'd appreciate permission to use some of your comments in our other promotional literature if you are willing.

Best of luck to you all!

Getting caught up on the entries from Friday and the weekend... Should have all of those confirmed by tomorrow afternoon.

We've got about a month to go and although we've received a tremendous amount of support, we'd still appreciate everyone's help continuing to spread the word. Even if you aren't in a position to contribute financially, you can still play a vital role by sharing our message through Facebook & Twitter.

It would also be a great help if you would e-mail your contacts and give them the opportunity to participate in fulfilling our mission as well.

Thanks again everyone!

Still catching up on things from the weekend, with apologies... We really need to automate! ;-)

Should have everyone caught up by Wednesday evening... Thanks for the support!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

It looks like we're all caught up, but with the volume coming in, we don't want anyone to "fall through the cracks" so if you have entered, and haven't gotten a confirmation e-mail from the foundation then please e-mail us ASAP and let us know.

As always, we appreciate the support, but if you know a family in need, especially those with children dealing with debilitating brain anomalies, please get us in contact with them so we can see if there's any way we can help.

Have a great day!

Headed into the weekend and wanted to wish everyone a safe and relaxing few days off. While we certainly appreciate the support, don't forget to toss some of your spare change at the firemen this weekend. I've got a Ziplock baggie full of change in the truck just for that reason today!:D

All caught up on entries through Sunday afternoon now.

Have a great Labor Day everyone! (I'll be burning some meat on the grill for family and friends... )

Don't forget "Jerry's Kids" tomorrow and don't forget to tell your shooting buddies at the range about our raffle too!

Thanks!

Less than thirty days to go!

We could still use all the help we can get, not just in the form of donations, but also in the form of helping spread the word... If you are a contributor, please help by sharing the event with your friends, co-workers and other social organizations or shooting groups you participate in.

If you haven't contributed financially, but understand the goal we've set before ourselves to help kids who typically fall through the cracks in the system, then please feel free to do the same and share our mission and our event with your e-mail lists and various social groups as well.

You can find us on facebook and twitter through the website and your support would be invaluable.

Best of luck to all of you who are already participating and also to everyone on the forum! Thanks!

Entries through Friday Noon have been logged and confirmation e-mails have been sent.

I wanted to take a moment as we draw closer to the tenth anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001 and remind everyone that our enemies are not faceless and neither are the victims of the shameless act of war we know today as 9/11.

Please take a moment and consider the other worthy charities who focus on the families left behind by the Islamic terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the families of those heroic souls on board Flight 93 who fought back with all they had.

If you are not led to support our efforts at this time, that's ok, but please consider where you can do some good in the world and look for opportunities to help 9/11 victims, the Wounded Warrior Project, Fischer House or any number of other charitable organizations who look after those who had no voice in the decisions which have affected their futures forever...

God Bless America!

Thanks for the support so far everyone!

We're in the last three weeks of the event and could still use some "volunteer" effort to help spread the word. Feel free to e-mail us to see how you can plug into our efforts to provide comfort and support to these kids and their families.

We really could use a big push on facebook and twitter as well, so if you've thought of contributing, but finances are tight, here's a way you can donate a bit of time and energy and still make a difference without having to spend any money.

Spread the word to your friends and co-workers. Have your friends mention your name in the "Notes" section of the donation/ checkout page, when they log on to contribute. For every ten tickets/ donations you are responsible for generating, we will "throw your name in the hat" at no charge, but you have to make sure they mention you by your real name for us to be able to keep track of things.

Best of luck to you all!
