Went to the range today and both my Uberti 31 cal 1849 pocket and CVA 1863 pocket. Notice that the Uberti takes a whole lot more effort in ramming the ball. So much that after the third or so round of loading it I have to resort using the table on the range to ram it home. The CVA takes little to no effort. Is it just my gun or is anyone else experiencing this too? By the way I use .330” for the Uberti and I use .323” balls for the CVA. I use what is recommended by the factory and by the wonderful folks here in THR. Also what is the max load for both pistols? I found that the lower charge from the pocket flask that came with the 49’ model gave to no real accuracy. While I loaded somewhere between 10-13 grains by volume. I notice that accuracy greatly improved vs whatever the small flask was throwing. I would think the lighter charge would give more accuracy though.

I have similar issues with my San Marco '49, I slightly eased the edge of the chambers because the ball would just squash there and hang up, slightly lubing the ball before loading helped so I put a light coat of ALOX on all of them.
