Anybody have any luck with one of these?

I just received mine, and seem to be having bad luck.

At first, I couldn't even reassemble the slide and barrel to the frame. After polishing the noted culprit, the base of the feed ramp (as directed in the single page instructions), it finally slid together.

Now, I find that the slide will release into battery...sometimes, as long as a) the chamber is empty w/no magazine, or b) when I place a round in the chamber w/o magazine.

It has not successfully chambered a round from the mag, and it gets "caught" just over a quarter of an inch out of battery. It appears the friction between the barrel and slide is too great with the recoil spring seeming to push vertically on the rear of the barrel.

What's worse, if I push down on the barrel to relieve the tension, it will appear to go into battery, but actually be about 1/16" out.

Obviously, I'm disappointed, as I was hoping to go to the range after work. :(

Any thoughts?

How much 'polishing' is too much/not enough?

Other info: I've got a new Wolfff recoil spring in there, and I'm using the .40 mags (as I was told I could do that with the 9mm)

Thanks in advance.

I am afraid that may be you received 9mm barrel, not the conversion barrel. I have tried to put a 9mm barrel into 229 .40. It fits nicesly into the slide, however it would not let the slide close.

The barrel I have is something that I bought by mistake
(I needed a conversion barrel, but instead bought 9mm).
So now I have a 229 match-grade barrel unfired laying
around and no planned use (since I will never have a 229 in 9mm)

Hmmm.

I'll double check when I get home. I know that was one thing I was looking at closely when ordering and checking the packing slip when it arrived.

I thought the barrel had "conv" stamped on it. But, having set it aside while I went on vacation, I'm doubting myself. I'll check it out when I get home.

Anybody else have similar issues?

Anybody else have zero problems with one of these?

for my 40 S&W p239 i got a conv 357 SIG that functions properly
liked it so much i got a conv 9. also flawless. both are compensated FWIW. same factory bbl spring and mags for all 3 calibers. good luck

I have a 229 in .40cal and would like a 9mm conversion barrel, but how does the 9mm in a .40cal frame perform? Will the extractor work okay?

I know a Berreta 92 9mm barrel works in a 96 .40cal pistol (I have both). I extracts fired brass with no problem, although unfired rounds tend to just fall unless you forcefully pull the slide back.

Extractor seems to work okay. At least every time it fails to fully feed and lock into battery, racking the slide will eject the unfired round.

Folks over on SigForum suggested I try the 9mm mags, as the .40 mags tend to angle the round too high?? Figure I'll give it a go.
