I've purchased a used 1911 chambered in 10mm a few months ago and I've wanted to change out the recoil spring since I don't know how many rounds have been through it. Since I've started reloading I've decided that now it's more prudent that I take care of this sooner than later, rather than beat up the gun. I've been looking at #22 springs by Wolff and I came across Wilson's Shock Buffer System and I've heard good things about EFK as well.

In short, what do you guys think would be the best options in lightening up the battering my gun will be going through as long as I'm shooting it?

On my 10mm DW I've went with EGW oversized Firing pin stop, 23 lb mainspring and 20 lb recoil spring. I'm not a fan of shock buffs at all.

What Techmike said. I have the same set up on an old Dan Wesson Razorback.
