The other day I went to the range and had someone record me shooting reloaded 357 sig’s that i had just reloaded and was shooting them in my Sig 226 hand gun. The one thing that stood out was that when the spent case were ejects some would go 2 to 3 time farther then others.

Is this becouse of an over charge or somthing to do with the case?

Sorry for the stupid question… but can some one put me on the path?

Any input would be appreciated.

It's all about slide speed. The lighter the slide and the hotter the load the farther the brass goes.

Thanks, I used the ChargeMaster 1500 Scale/Dispenser to put 7.5gr of unique in each load.
I set the bullet to 1.300 but some were 1.295. So if that is right then the chargeMaster1500 may be off.
Can +-0.1 grain make it do that?

Again thank for any input.

I'd say it can,I've seen it myself and it sometimes does acually reflect worse groups. With some loads +/- .1,.2gr won't make much, others it will. There is probably other things going on also.If your case lengths differ by 5 to 10 thou, the shorter ones will have a lighter crimp than the longer ones ,so pressure can change, how much?who knows. It can be any number of things.

First, NO, 0.1gn will not have any noticeable effect, and ±0.1gn is the "no effect" for almost ALL reloading and is all the precision we loaders work under.
Take a 124gn XTP and Universal powder. The max load is 5.8gn/1235fps and the starting load is 5.2/1134fps. This shows that 0.1gn of powder will only increase velocity by ~17fps, which is well within the variation of a single charge weight.
You will have more effect if your COL is not consistent (and even there, you are still talking about ±0.002" being consistent).
How was accuracy? How was felt recoil?
If your grip varies, then the recoil will be affected. Limp wristing can take momentum from the slide and cause stovepipe jams.

If you'd like to see just how far your 357 SIG will throw brass... load up some Hornady 124 gr XTP bullets and 10 grs of 800X(Hodgdon's recommend load for 800X in the 357 SIG)... it will sling the brass out there...

Accuracy was not as good as what the last reloaded were... but that could have been me having an off day.

I feel stupit but what is COL ?

Again thank you for all the input
