Electro Sight Hunting

Ruger Mark III, Target 6.87 w/Barska Reflex Sight, Pachmayr grips





Have put about 100 rounds through it using Federal Champion and CCI Minimags. A nice little shooter that has so far functioned flawlessly. Did a couple small modifications which included the Pachmayr grips and of course the Barska reflex sight. Gonna try my hand at pistol hunting. I like the idea of carrying at the hip, since a rifle slung over the shoulder takes its toll due to vertabrae problems I've developed in the last few years.

Anybody done any hunting with a reflex, holographic, or red dot sight (pistol or rifle)?

Would love to get your input.

I've tried a Leupold 2X scope, tube red dot, and Bushnell Holosight. I prefer the Holosight, too bad they're no longer made. I'm swapping it between my Contender and Victor:

I may try a Burris FastFire or Mueller on the Contender.
PS - no, the Victor wasn't D&T'd. I found a mount that replaces the factory rib.
PPS - I've got a MKI Ruger 6-7/8" barrel that's next in line for optics.

I've heard nothing but good things about that Bushnell. It is a shame they no longer make em. Like the way you've got it mounted.

I got the Barska just to get a feel for how the reflex sight works. Ready for the next step up. Thanks for naming a few makes. Gives me something to look at.
