Please help me with a recommendation as I am extremely frustrated with my luck on electronic handgun storage. I purchased a SportLock handgun safe and the unit stopped working after 13 months. I then switched to the Winchester eVault and this week after about 16 months of ownership it stopped working. Note - this is not a battery issue. The batteries have been changed. The units have been manually plugged in to an outlet etc. I am hoping that Winchester will replace the eVault. I am waiting to hear back from them.

I am looking for a recommendation on handgun storage that will work 100% of the time and last longer than 13-16 months. I open it up 2x per day, and that's it. Something requiring a key is not an option. Frankly even if Winchester is willing to replace the unit I have I'm not sure I care to have it. What good would it be if I can't open it when I need it...again in 16 months.

As always, thank you for your opinions.

FWIW all of the high end safe companies have dials on their safes. There are a couple of electronic models but for the most part they are using manual dials. I could never bring myself to purchase an electronic safe for that very reason. I hope Winchester makes things right for you.

You want to be looking at hand gun safes that use Simplex push button locks.

There are several companies that make them. No batteries, old/proven lock design, and just about bullet proof.

A quick search including simplex reveals amsec, fort knox, and vline. I'll go that direction. Thanks for your input it's greatly appreciated.

I think there's a forum member here that builds a version that also uses this lock. I think his version holds a single holstered pistol that "presents" itself when the door is opened.
