After putting a Steiner MRS on my Nelson Custom 1911-22 I’m sold on pistol red dot sights.

I bought a slide for my Glock19 with an MOS (optic) cut, but now I need a a little red dot for it.

I’m not wanting to spend big money for a Trijicon or AimPoint so, is there anything else in the $200-$300 range on the market that’s reliable?

Thanks!
The first one I bought is a Steiner MRS on sale at Amazon that I originally put an AR, but it was so small it really looked out of place, plus I had to put it on a riser so I could see through it. I ended up putting it on my Nelson 1911-22 which is a fixed barrel and it’ll shoot ragged holes out to 75 feet (which I could never do before) and I was sold on it!

I’ve also picked up a Holosun 510 & 512 that I originally put on the AR but I needed a magnifier to make good use of the range an so they ended up on my Scorpion EVO & a MP5 clone. and the AR got a LPVO.

Anyway, as I’m getting older it seems like the mini red (or green) dots kinda seems like cheating, but I do like shooting good groups with a pistol again!

Another good choice in your price range is the micro sights from Swampfox Optics. I have at least one of each version they all and haven't had any issues. Plus they have excellent customer service if ever needed.

PS: Swampfox also has an excellent MIL/LEO discount program too. But you only get the discount when buying directly from their website.

For a full size pistol, I like the Sig Romeo 1. I have one on my SigP320 M17 and love it.

For a micro pistol, I'd recommend the Holoson over the Sig Romeo 0.

Trijicon RMRcc
Holosun 507k
Swampfox Sentinel
Sig Romeo 0
Shield RMSC or SMSC
Crimson Trace RADmicro
Riteon

Have CT RADmicro on G43x MOS mounted directly without plate.

I really like Swampfox. They’re reasonably priced and have been perfectly reliable for me. I’ve got various models on various pistols and have had no issues.

Personally I like Sightmark. They're cheaper than everyone else but the vast majority of their optics are well worth it.

Thanks for all the recommendations!
I’m not opposed to spending the money for a good sight, but I’m not going to war, competing or even CCW, so I don’t feel the need to spend $500-$600+ dollars. I like Leupold and now that’s the majority of my scopes, but it’s not what I started with and probably won’t be where I start with a micro red/green dot or reflex … unless I find a really good sale or rebate!

I’m still reading up on these and planning to order 1-2 in the next week or so, at this time I’m considering the Holosun 507C and maybe one of the Swampfox sights.

If you have personal experience/stories you’d like to relate I’d like to read them too!

I may try one out if I can find it on Amazon so I can return it if I don’t like it. I’ve had a couple Sightmark scopes but it’s been years ago and to be honest they seemed fragile so I wasn’t impressed. For the same money BSA seemed to be a better value, in fact I still have a BSA on a heavy barrel AR that will still shoot under an inch at 150 yards (when I can hold it steady) the only thing I’ve come to dislike about it is the glass has a slight yellow tint to it, I know it’s that way to bring out bright colors, I just don’t care for it.

I chose a 507c as my first handgun optic and couldn't be happier with it. Now I have the 507c, a 407k, 507k and 509t. I personally prefer the 507 over the 407 due to the different reticles but if you only want a dot then the 407 will save you about $100.

I thought the difference between the 407c & 507c was the solar backup?

Regardless, I did get the 507c classic and was expecting multiple reticle, at least the dot and circle dot, but the classic is the dot only. It does have the solar backup, shake awake, automatic brightness and all the other features, but just the dot.

While the circle dot would be nice (I have it on my 510 & 512) the classic model was $244 and the least expensive 507C x2 was $309 … any other time I would have spent the extra $65, but in the last couple months I’ve bought 4 electric sights, the Glock34 and a Ruger SR1911, just for the frame to put on my Nelson Custom 22 conversion … and a few little things … basically blown through my “fun money” :(

The C's have the solar panel and the K's don't. That and size/footprint are the main difference between the C's and K's.

I'm not sure about the 507c classic as all of my are the x2 models.

The main difference between the 407 versus the 507 is the reticle. The 407 is only available with a single dot while you can switch the 507 between a dot or a circle dot reticle.

I put an RMR on my P80 build but I got it for free with my Cabela's points. I usually prefer a tube style and the Aimpoint T1 clones specifically. This style of red dot is not natural for me. It's easier to find the dot on a long gun than a pistol, so I'm having to to work on it. That said, I have over a dozen various models of SIG red dots and like them immensely. The Romeo4 in particular but their micro reflexes are good too.
