I have 2 bow season permits (ES) , and 2 rifle season permits (MB) for Elk in NMG&F hunt unit 21B. These are open unit tags for public land, BLM, state and some deeded lands.
Priced to sell at $1500 each.
I bought them thinking I was going to need them , but now I'm working 4 other hunts in different units.
I will help any buyer with my knowledge of the area, show him/her on maps and a quick tour of the country if they wish to come out in advance.
My tel is 505- 743- 2230, Bill.

I drew a cow elk tag this year, so I'm pretty happy. Lenny got skunked though. Mostly we were compalianing about the draw system in general.

Lenny - I've seen landowner bull tags for as much as $5000 in NM. Granted that often includes some degree of guideing, but still makes one go :what:  :uhoh: (Looks at wallet) - :banghead: .

Yea, my eyes went :what: too.

I paid $32.50 for two shotgun deer tags ($15 each for the tags and $2.50 to process my credit card over the internet  ) and $25 for two over the counter archery deer tags here in Illinois. So for $57.50, I know I'll fill the freezer again this year. (I hunt for meat not horns. Well, maybe just a little.......)

If I paid $1500 for a elk tag, I'd better come back with one or Mrs Scout would put my butt in the freezer.

This may help explain: NMG&F (Standard demand hunt fee)
N.M. resident elk license is $69.
non-resident elk license is $490.

the open unit landowner elk authorization/permit (what I have to sell) allows you to hunt elk if you were not successful in the draw. These are given to large tract landowners for free to offset their loss of grazing to the elk. Then they capitalize on them. I know of other 21B auth/permits that sold for $2000 just for the paper, unit 17 to the north for $3500. So this is a very fair deal.
NMG&F web site is www.wildlife.state.nm.us

All things considered, I would say that Harve is selling the tags for a pretty good price. That said, I can't afford $1500 for an elk hunt, at least at this point in my life, no matter how good of a "deal" it might be compared to what everyone else charges for similar tags. It was bad enough having to pay $83 for my resident cow tag.

Course I did just buy that Sig P245, but I also need to replace the dishwasher, and the stove.
