Even though the AWB, and magazine restrictions are going nowhere as many no votes as possible on floor vote would send a great message and have the added bonus of embarrassing Feinstien. We should all write our friendly neighborhood liberal senators to let them know our views. This goes double for those of us in red states with democratic senators.

I kept mine short and sweet.

Please do not support the upcoming amendment to ban the models of semi-automatic rifles commonly referred to as "assault weapons" and magazines greater than 10 rounds. Missourians will remember how you stand on this issue in 2018 when you may not have the luxury of a Todd Akin.

I've written her numerous times, only to receive a form letter stating why she is going to vote opposite of how I feel (usually stating it is her opinion, or her position) and thanks for my input, please feel free to contact her in the future.

These tyrants forget they aren't supposed to vote how they feel, but how their constituents feel.

Well said Xelera. They do forget.

Regardless, keep up the pressure, let your voices be heard. It's kept us from losing many Rights on a national level so far. One more immediate hurdle of shooting down this "universal background check" and we can start working on helping individual states that have their own fights and thinking ahead as well.

I'm in eastern MO.

One of the problems with contacting Senator McCaskill right now is that she has just been elected to a 6 year term. Senators therefore hope that the populace will forget over time. They are often right - consider the career of Chuck Percy of Illinois, the paradigm of RINO. I actually voted for Paul Simon and against Percy because he was such a snake.

One tactic to try with 'secure' Democrats or those not facing re-election for a long period is to remind them that they are damaging the Democratic 'brand', and perhaps impacting the ability in this case for that party to remain competitive on the State level.

Its true that she does not face voters for another 6 years, but Missouri is an increasingly republican dominated state, I think she realizes that the only reason shes still is in Washington is because of Todd Akin's mental deficiencies. If she wants another 6 years she'll have the use the next 6 at least pretending to be moderate.
