Go with Benchmade. For ~ 120 dollars you will find a really great knife!!!

Benchmade Striker.
All of those listed above are great knives. The Griptillian will serve you well and runs around 70 dollars and comes with the Axis lock.
Best of all if you hurt a Benchmade the factory will take care of you.
Emerson also has a pretty good following but the BM customer service takes that cake on this one.

I've handled Benchmades and they all seem to be solid but have not owned one. I carry an Emerson because I REALLY like the Wave feature. You pull it out (correctly) and the blade deploys. Not sure if you'll find it for $120 (I got mine for $135). No experience with Cold Steels.

avoid cold steel folders. They are not nearly the same quality as the others mentioned. Cheaper blade steels that don't hold an edge as well, first off.
The listed benchmades are good.
You may also wish to consider spyderco - endura, delica, temperance, military, calypso...and a few others.

Also forgot to mention:
When purchasing a liner lock....compare to see how thick or thin the liner is. The more solid the liner the better the lock will hold under stress.
Go Benchmade Axis lock. The Wave on the Emersons are also a nice feature and you will most likely get alot of ohhhhhhs or ahhhhhhhs when seen with either

I would also go for the Benchmade...
Definitly, DO NOT buy a Benchmade.... They have the worlds worst warranty dept. These guy's make the kids at your local MC-d's drive through look excessivly competent. I had a problem with a $200 knive that they addmitted (Finally) was improperly heat treated, and it took me just short of a year, after 12 E-mails, 6 letters, and god knows how many phone calls, to resolve. The only thing that got there attention was a letter to the Pres. I sent this knife back 3 times, before they decided to replace the blade. I discretely marked it the first time to see if they'd do what they said (replace the blade) and the only polished and re-sharpened. I spent about $70-100 in shipping and Insurance, and in the end they never bothered to reimberse me for any of it (they said they would). I was so pissed, I gave it away, and bought a spyderco delica II. This is a good one. Ive have missused Spyderco's in the past, and they have sent me new knives, even when it was my fault; WITH NO B.S. Benchmade is a low class outfit... Stay away.
By the way, I own two other Benchmades, One is not great, the other is a good knife. But we (collectively) should not support bad company's. I'll NEVER buy another. The two I currently have are hidden in the back of a cabinent so I dont have to look at them. YYYYYYUUUUCK!

You wouldn't be interested in selling them, would you? There is no way I could afford them at anything near market value, but if you hate them that much perhaps you would let them go cheaply? While I doubt you will, it can't hurt to ask, right? No big deal either way.
Unfortunatly one was a gift, and the other is a complete peice of #$%@; so you would'nt want it. But I do know where there is a NIB Osborne AXIS, green, plain blade for sale. you could probably get it from my cousin for about $80 + ship. I'll ask him if your interested. The guy I gave mine too, say's it's a great knife. I'd imagine most are, but theyre a very low class outfit. I love my spyderco, it was $60, and theyre a very class outfit. PM me if you want me to ask for ya!

I have a Spyderco and I think the Benchmade is much better quality.. Just my Opinion..

I swear by Benchmade. They are, in my opinion, probably one of the best mass production knives you can buy. I would say they are comparable in quality, price, and consistency to what I have heard most people say about SIGs (classic P series) for CCW. Also, they have the Lifesharp service. You send your knife in, they send it back factory sharpened. I paid about 5 bucks to send in 4 of my knives in August and they came back in two weeks razor sharp. Including the knife that gotten ruined trying to cut the steel belt off a tire (don't ask). That knife was about as sharp as a butter knife and now I could probably shave with it.
If I've sufficently interested you in Benchmades, I recommend looking at the Stryker, AFCK, and Ares series. I have owned all of them and they are excellent knives.
Regardless of what you buy, checking out the knifecenter.com website would probably be worth your time. I have purchased almost all of my knives (and all of my Benchmades) from their site. My first knife is a good example. I got the Mini Stryker (serrated), 905S, which retails for $110 for only $75. Of course most places can beat retail, but in my experience Knifecenter not only beats retails but most other companies as well. It should definitely be cheaper than buying at a gun show.
Look and handle (be sure to handle a knife before you buy!!) at the gun show, but buy off the Internet. That's my rule of thumb. My $2*10^-2...
