Marlin 81DL Vintage 1949
OOOLD Tasco 3x9
49Points
Sandbag rest

I decided to get out and give it another try, but this time with my old past me down trusty dusty Marlin 81DL which I got from my mother who passed it on to me after my grandfather passed away.

This is a Marlin Model 81DL from 1949 According to my grandfathers receipt, which I had to make copies of because the ink is fading fast :) It has a cheap Tasco scope not sure of the history of it. What I like most about this one is it is my grandfathers and at the age of 8 he taught me how to shoot my first rifle it is still going today and it doesn't require high dollar target ammo. As a matter of fact Eley, SK, Wolf Target it shoots all over the place. But load it up with some American Eagle 40gr red box and it does well.

5 Shots at 50 Yards from sandbag rest on bench, the one flyer is me I am sure. After all these years the trigger is still really stiff and requires 6pounds to pull.

Had a chance to get out today to give this a whirl with my CZ452. It's got BRNO aperture sights on it, so I'm in the non-magnified, target rifle division. Shot prone, 25 yards, CCI SV ammo. Score = 50. Close, but no cigar on the 10-point bonus.

Thanks for another tough match.

Awfully glad to see you guys are still going strong with the rimfire matches!! I too had to drop off the grid for awhile due to work. I had to take on a couple of service contracts for my shop to keep my head above water which included weekends and after hours.
Working's a bitch! LoL , Anyway, I hope to be able to join in again when things slow down a little. Great shootin guys. keep it up!

Happy New Year, guys! I've been swamped lately (mostly family/personal stuff and the like), but I'll try to get the new year's match up and running sometime tomorrow...er...later today.

:)

I have a ton of stuff to do in the morning so the wrap-up and new years match will have to wait till tomorrow afternoon. Sorry for the delay guys, it's just been one thing after another.

:)

Happy New Year everybody -- Boy, ammo prices including rimfire have gone totally berserk here in Kansas. Walmart is rationing again so I'm going to have to stop shooting these matches until the panic settles down and people get back to some semblance of normal!

I've got about 10K of .22 and .17 left, but at current prices, I'm going to have to pretty much hoard what I have as I can't afford to replace it right now!

Same goes for the centerfire matches. Don't have nearly enough .223 on hand and it's all but dried up right now and that includes reloading components.

Prices were totally ridiculous at last weekend's gun show and the stupid paranoids were paying them!

I guess I'm going into hibernate mode for the winter.

I'll keep reading these threads and post when I have some sort of comments to make, but shooting is going to be relegated to popping the occasional rabbit or squirrel, not punching paper.

Alright guys, finally got around to tallying the results...here goes:

Non-Magnified Division - Target Class:
1st: MrBorland - 50
2nd: nbkky71 - 49
3rd: Texas4x4hoe - 47

Magnified division - Target Class:
1st: nbkky71 - 50
2nd: Tie HankWm & Mr.Revolverguy - 49
Honorable Mention: Texas4x4hoe (48)

Great shooting guys, stay tuned in for a new match (thinking a quarterly match might be in order due to the ammunition shortage as of late). Additionally, I think I'll discontinue the centerfire match indefinately (we'll start back when ammunition becomes more available thus allowing for greater participation).

:)
