Hello,

I am in the process of negotiating a trade for a Enfield 303. I have little information about this gun and was wondering if there are any recommended web sites where I can go to be able to ID this rifle. (Manufacturer, Model, Age and etc.)

Here are some of the markings:

BNP 303
2222
18.5

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

You may find this Guy helpful: ‘JollyGreenSlugg’ who is an Aussie Lee Enfield collector.

He has a number of interesting and informative videos on Enfields which you may find useful.

Those are the normal English "Export" markings used by the Brits when they used to sell surplused rifles. Basically they are proof markings.

The rifle is either a #1mkIII or a #4mk1 most probably.

The serial number is the best way to ID the rifle. #1 has the info on the reciever ring right side behind the barrel, #4 is on the socket on the left side. The #1 wil have ID marks on the right side of the butt socket. Post the other numbers if you can get them.
