I just picked up a 1945 marked Enfield Jungle Carbine that does seem to match all the identifying criteria to be identified as an original rifle. The only flaws I see are that the bayonett lug has been ground off and the remaining material has been left visible and un-blued-kind of crude. The flash hider is
also missing but I don't see where is was cut off nor any signs of metal grinding or filing where it would have been removed from. My barrel end is tapered and a over an inch in length from the front sight but is looks untampered with and the blueing matchs the rest of the barrel metal. My question is since I don't have another to compare to, where did the hider attach and is it a removable design? I would like to replace it if possible although it isn't manditory. Thanks for reading this, Bob

You might also ask "Tikirocker" about these, or any other LE.

He is found at 'Surplusrifle' forums and'Gunboards', 'Gunandgame' etc.

It is ironic that so many 'bubbafied' surplus rifles are permanently screwed up, but then sold (or unable to be sold: many owners are legends in their own mind).
Saw an authentic M-1 GI vintage Carbine in the very large gun store about 15 min. east of Hendersonville, KY and it had been spray painted green.

ignition both metal and paint come off but its easier to change the paint than to add metal

paint it for all i care but please lord dont take a grinder or hack saw to it lol

If I could only find a stock set to un-bubba mine.
