Hello again everyone. First thanks for the quick response to my former question and for the pictures! They were great and gave me alot of ideas. My question is this. I remember a form of trench knife or sticker made by british or australian soldiers (not 100% sure) during their campains. I do not know if they used it in WWII, but it was used in the trenches. I remember seeing a picture of one about 30 years ago, and Atlanta Cutlery had replicas made for sale (WHY I DID NOT BUY ON THEN, I DON'T KNOW!). Does anyone know where you can find a picture or a tutorial on how to make them. It would be a very good self defense weapon. I notice that the bayonets and the scabbards are on sale for very cheap prices. I have seen a type of Shank made from a 91/30 bayonet, but it looks ugly. They had the handle wrapped with tennis racket tape. I am not saying it would not work, but I would like to make or purchase something that looks better and will do the job. I aways carry an edge weapon around my home and property. Since we live close (4miles) to the Mexican Border in S.W. Texas, every now and then we get people form Mexico that cross over illegally usually to find work, etc. Sometimes they can be desperate (I do not blame them) for food, water, or a hiding place because they are being chased by the Border Patrol. I have a friend that is a single mom, and her son hear noise in the attic. She looked and there were four men hiding. They told her that they were desperate for food and water. She called the Border Patrol. They came to get them and were given food and water. I was just looking for something to make or buy that would be easy to conceal and do the job. If they used these weapons in the wars, they must be effective.
Thank you for listening and your time!

Actually, spikes are not as effective as you might think.
They were used in war because they were cheap and easy to make.

They are effective if you are trained to strike the vitals and don't miss.
But if you miss, you have a PO'd guy with a puncture wound that won't bleed fast enough to take the starch out of him quickly.

A regular edged weapon is a much better choice then a spike type weapon most every time as it gives you the option of stabbing or slashing from any angle you might find yourself in.

As for the part about taking on a group of illegals in the attic??

I'd caution you against that.
Some of them have knife skills you can only dream about because they grew up using them.

And there is never a clear-cut winner in a knife fight.
The winner is always the one who isn't bleeding quite was bad as the loser.

You are right!

I never thought of that. As for the men in the attic. They were just regular humble men looking for work and were in a bad situation. No food, no water. She found them after she went home from work. They were up there hiding waiting for her to leave. I think they picked the door to get in and they heard her going up the drive way. They were just looking for work and they did not want any trouble. This is what they told the B.P.Agents.

BUT, it could have been diffrent if they were criminals or trouble makers. She may have been in a bad way if the situation was diffrent.
Thanks again for your help.
