England pro gun rally...

England made a mistake, a huge mistake, that is the past and it is what it is.

they have a long drawn out and uphill battle ahead of them if they want their rights back.

remember remember the 5th of november...

We in America are the ones who need to sober up, a wise man once said "those who do not learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them" but it's the age old problem everyone who cares about something has faced

you can get a thousand people to say they support something, one hundred to give some money to the cause, but you'd be extremly lucky to find one who is dedicated to actually doing something about it.

if you can figure out how to do that, please by all means, tell me.

Brutality of total government control at it's finest... Good people being treated like criminals in the name of so-called public safety.

Great video. Wow, the only way to avoid jail or victimization in England seems to be defend yourself and quiety dispose of the trash. Sad but true.

I'm totally in awe that it took them so bloody long to do this.

Talk about slow to awaken...

Does anybody know when the protest depicted in the video took place? Somebody on the video speaks of Tony Martin being in prison and he was released in 2003 so I assume this video and the protest is at least 5 years old.

Technically he is still in prison, he is under House Arrest for a yet to be determined period of time, and is guarded/watched by police 24/7.

It would be interesting to have some kind of a handle on how wide spread the view of these protesters IS in the UK... I've been under the impression that most people there pretty much accept things the way they are.
Any comments from those who live there?

Opposite actually.

It's a Minority that are driving all of the weapons paranoia, but they also control (or appear to) the goverment and the Media.

FYI: I used to live in the UK from 95 until 2005.

Why is it that the "New Media" hasn't taken as much control over information away from the old MSM in the UK and Europe the way it has here in The States?

Could you provide a link to Tony Martin being in a state of "House Arrest". Nothing I found mentions this condition of his release. Thanks.

Must be old because they refer to the events leading up to Mr Martins issues happening 4 years prior.

Anyone can make the error we made when we banned guns. An error, however, does not become a mistake unless you refuse to correct it.

Which, of course, our PM has. I've signed up to four petitions that I can recall, and every time, he's refused to do the right thing.

It could be years before we reverse the damage that groups like the Gun Control Network have wrought. Guys, I sincerely hope you guys in America have better luck than we did.

Excellent video. Have posted the link on a forum dedicated to gettign our pistols back... and unofficially with a strong RKBA contingent.

It seems the protest was the one against the (then proposed) Hunting With Dogs Act. This was one of the largest civil demostration the UK has ever seen, if not the largest. Police 'arrested troublemakers' during some of the march, though there have been many people claiming the first blows were from policemen in full riot gear -- kevlar, shield, weighed gloves etc. The Act has been law since 2004. (To be perfectly correct though, this was concerned with an only marginally connected topic of hunting foxes from horseback with packs of hounds. Some sensible people connected with both areas though. There are good arguments why the ban should not have been made law, and a lot of very unintelligent and illogical arguments against foxhunting. The ban is regularly flouted, and antihunt protesters often physically attack, injure, spit on, make false accusations against huntspeople and their animals. The ban was pushed through by a government getting a bee in its bonnet about a topic, the tabloids doing a five-minute-wonder about 'We must ban these eveil people from killing our sweet cute foxess!!!!!111111oneoneone' etc. and the general public, the topic affecting less than 95% of them, being convinced by much emotional ind misleading rhetoric. Hmmm, sounds familiar...)

My impressions are that most people in the UK are sympathetic or support home defence etc. and appreciate that crime (esp. violent crime) is up. They don't, however, realise that they are in favour of RKBA. Blame the mass media or whathaveyou if you want; I mainly do. We have so much 'political correctness' and the Powers that Be ramming certain messages down our throats ('Crime is down!', 'production of boots is up!' 'Oceana has always been at war with Easasia!' etc.) that I think most people are prevented from putting two and two together... or being told that to think '4' is wrong.

I think that the British firearms communities have finally learned their lesson though. It's been a long, slow and damned painful one, but we now know what a wedge is dagnabbit... and we understand inclined planes very well too. We're trying to rally round. Our shooting groups are very fragmented and quite introverted. Our NRA is mainly interested in shooting .308 bolt-action rifles at Bisley Ranges and is quite... cliquey. Sporting shooters are by-and-large happy so long as they get adequate tools of their job/sport, and so are happy with the status quo. RKBA loby is... limited. 'Alternative' represtentative/pressure groups have been created, notably SAGBNI, but they do not have the size, age or muscle of the establishment. This is the reason why we're looking to combine the largest target-shooting groups and any others which wish to under one banner. This will hopefully allow us a unified front from which to fight, economies of scale and amny other benefits (including legally required consultation on legislation affecting us). Divided we stumbled; together we will rise again.

That video is amazing...I'd like to take most of our politicians and MAKE them view that video Clockwork Orange style.

Cold, Dead hands.

So as a "criminal" he gets the police protection he could not get as a law abiding citizen. That is messed up.

The excuse the bbc gave was for fear that He "might" try to finish the job after the surviving perp had successfully sued him.

Problem IS, WW II happened too long ago. If Britain's citizens were living in bomb shelters, listening to buzz bomb V2's flying overhead, watching the Battle of Britain determine whether they're going to speak English or German in their future, this anti-gun insanity that Britain suffers from woudn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell.

England WAS the nation, after all, that you had to be knighted in order to be allowed to carry a knife or sword. You had to be elite, or had to be connected to a Lord or other royal member.

It's the fundamental reason the Founding Fathers in the U.S. created the Constitution. So the madness wouldn't repeat itself here.

"It's a Minority that are driving all of the weapons paranoia, but they also control (or appear to) the goverment and the Media."

So, it looks like we have more in common with the UK than I thought.

England does not like our "gun culture". Without it we would be.... well.... still British not the USA

Sad thing about this part is that during WWII a great many Americans " Loaned" guns to the British people for home defense against a possible Nazi invasion, as soon as the war ended the British government had all of these guns including the ones that were in transit dumped into the sea!!
