Engraved guns: to shoot or not to shoot?

Hard to tell without a picture but your engraving sounds more like silver inlaying . This intails cutting a dovetail like channel in the steel that is inlayed with silver wire - when tapped the silver spreads into the wider base of the channel and is thereby retained.

I'm of the shoot the thing crowd, but fully realize that by doing so the monitary value will drop . If keeping it's value as high as possible is important to you, than don't fire it, and don't turn the cylinder either .

Hmmmm - If it was a rare "collectable" one-of-a-kind, I'd be inclined to not shoot it, as it's value goes beyond it's basic attributes as a firearm. OTOH, I do believe that you can enjoy it as a firearm and still keep it nice. Afterall, once you get past basic functional soundness, the measure of the machine is the pleasure it gives you to operate it.

I thoroughly enjoy all the pictures of 'nice' firearms that are posted here, and while improved sights, grips, etc. do add to their usefulness, they also add personalization. I like wood furniture on my handguns, and I like to keep 'em clean, and I have a 'picnic' gun or two, though my carry guns are fairly plain. If cosmetic (and functional) enhancements add to your enjoyment, go for it!

No, it's definitely engraved. I'll post a pic when I get a chance.:)

I have a Koh-I-Nor Rapidograph pen. It's a .3 line width.

I want a whole set or line widths and then I want a whole set of every line width in all the primary colors.
About 300 dollars worth of pens. :-D

I'm probably the only person here who spent $30 on a pen for personal use.

It's a Sheaffer fountain pen, medium nib, with a brushed silver finish (the brushing is in a neat spiral pattern, too) with a little band at the widest point of the cap with ivy cut or molded or something into it.
