I have two EOtech sights on my 5.56 carbines. I am just reading about recalls or buybacks on them for being defective? I don't keep up with this stuff, I didn't realize there was an issue as I just bought another EXPS a couple weeks ago. I hunt Caribou in herds so rapid follow up shots are appreciated.

I sight in my guns in the summer, temps in the 50-60's, is there a dramatic shift once temps get below freezing? The coldest I have shot caribou with them is -25f out to 150 yards or so and didn't notice any accuracy issues, but I have been out in -50f weather wolf hunting, how much of an accuracy shift will I face and at those temps am I better off using irons?

Some people have problems with them, and some don't. Given the large temperature changes you're talking about, I'm kind of surprised you didn't have a problem. If you're worried at all, then you can always get the refund and use the money to buy something like an Aimpoint or Trijicon.

I think a vast majority of people jumped on the full retail refund, instead of actually having lots of issues.

Returned

I called them to ask for a fix up on my 12 year old EOTech [ think it was a 512 model ] that I had bought when I was an LEO.

They asked me how much did I want for it,told them I just wanted it fixed.

They INSISTED that I give them a price to buy it back.

They sent me 400.00 plus the cost of shipping with insurance.

That is great service, but now I doubt I would trust their product.

It has been replaced with a military grade Aimpoint.

I had heard they have lost quite a few contracts out to Aimpoint (obviously), but also Leupold's LCO is in the works with a few agencies to replace some of those EOtech contracts.

I have three of the AA battery models that have given me no issues (other than very poor battery life -- they never seem to really turn off and the batteries are often dead next time out if I forget to remove them). I've kept them and remain generally satisified.

I had one that was smaller and used weird N batteries. In addition to the short battery life, it had a very uneven illumination of the 65 moa circle, so I was happy to learn of the buy-back and am glad to be rid of it.

They gave me basically the current price on Midway's website for this model (or its successor) plus an allowance for my return shipping cost. Very good service IMHO.

I bought an Aimpoint, love the battery life, but I still like the EOTech better.
