Erratic Beam Scale

I drape a red shop tag over mine .... I wash it every so often to get any dust out of it. It is a dull pink.now .... seems to work and cheap .....

I try to make sure my weight poise is all the way to the left(500 grain mark) .... this keeps any movements down .... between reloading sessions ....

It wouldn't be too hard to sew up a cover simular to the one in Arch-A post ....

D.B. Cooper, I hope that you are now on your way to getting more reliable readings from your Redding scale. I have one of those as well. I am a novice reloader and was advised to place my beam scale on glass to ensure a super clean and flat surface to enable a great and consistent zeroing. I have mine on an old department store, wooden storage bench. It has a lot of character (read rough surface) so I obtained a thick plexiglass sheet to place on the benches surface to improve the accuracy from having a flatter surface. I find my Redding scale zeroing efforts can really be affected by the bench's surface. These three legged scales are pretty sensitive when adjusting that darn leveling knob.
