Shot next to a shotgunner for the first round at PGC this beautiful morn. I did OK, and the fellow next to me shot "About 20".

His not being more precise can easily be forgiven, he doesn't turn 11 until next week. He's been shooting about a year.

Ethan Kubilis(Name used by permission of his father)is about 4'8" tall,in the 5th grade at Jacobsville Elementary School, likes baseball and shooting with his dad and granddad.

That last was what he was doing today, before baseball practice.

Dad, Grandad, and a friend of the family were there also, and the 5 of us made up a couple of squads on Trap 8. Ethan used his cut down 870 20 gauge, Grandad a new Tristar O/U he was still getting used to, and the rest of us had 870s of divers ages.

And for those who weren't there, Ethan shot low gun, and with a stock that's still a bit long for him. Many of his hits were solid crushers, the kind we all like to get.Itty Bitty pieces....

BTW, his 870 was his father's first shotgun also.

Anyway, we talked, shot and enjoyed a marvelous morning before Ethan and his folks moved down to introduce Ethan to Skeet and 5 Stand. I gave my farewells and watched them go.Nice folks, the real salt of the earth...

And as I watched three generations amble down towards the clubhouse,I was struck by a thought...

There goes a kid who will never fall for the tripe dished out by the Feinsteins,O'Donnells, Rathers, Bradys and Sugarmans. You know, the ones that think that only police, the military and their own bodyguards should have guns.

There goes a kid who knows guns are just tools, and good tools for feeding and protecting folks.

There goes a kid who has the world on his shoulders, for he is part of the future.

Good luck, Ethan, I hope to shoot with you, your Dad and Grandad again....
