use of a mild, delicate, or indirect word or expression in place of a plainer and more accurate one

Example and work is specifically excluded.
One owns a 442/642 (snub) and a Glock 19 - they shoot the 19 better.
They carry the 19 sometimes, but not always, usually when they perceive higher risk.
They could carry the 19 everywhere but are unwilling to.
Rather than just say, "I'm not willing to carry a Glock 19 everywhere" (which is accurate).

Euphemisms that some post instead:
good area
threat assessment
anticipated threat
risk assessment
meets my needs

I'm not willing to carry a Glock 19 everywhere. Principally because I don't own a G19. I do own a Taurus G2c, and carry it when not working or to/from work. I do have a PT145 as my 'truck gun', so that one is available also, though both are divested from the vehicle when I go to the VA, or county courthouse.

Chicarrones brings up a good point. I thought I was getting too centered on Trap, which I shoot often (often as I can with ammo and component shortages) but focusing solely on one aspect of gun ownership is too limiting, and creates division and derision. (The "I'm better than you because I do 'X' and you don't" don't.)

We get it, your username points out the fact that Carry is very important to you, CDW4ME. It is for me also, I just don't consider that as my sole focus. If anything, I have the opposite issue. There are few aspects of gun ownership and use I don't at least 'dabble' in, much to my wallet's chagrin.

You have a one track mind, CDW4ME.

Do you have any other firearms interests?

There’s more to the firearms world than continuously pontificating about other folk’s carry gun choices, of which you can’t control.

I'm posting a gun related topic on a gun forum. :scrutiny:
Interesting choice of words, especially from someone who posts (continuously pontificates) over 3x more than me. o_O
This thread is about what some people post (say) - euphemisms.

While I get what you're trying to say @CDW4ME, I would class your example statements as rationalizations rather than euphemisms.

noun
plural noun: rationalizations
  1. 1.
the action of attempting to explain or justify behavior or an attitude with logical reasons, even if these are not appropriate.
"most people are prone to self-deceptive rationalization"
All due respect, but I'm not sure how this fits in Strategy, Tactics and Training?

Police Officer Dan Rocha, Everett Police Dept., EOW 25 March 2022
RIP, my brothers.

I do not see any of the examples as euphemisms.
I concur in that.

All due respect, but I'm not sure how this fits in Strategy, Tactics and Training?
And I concur in this, too.

Euphemisms will be more to "strapped" or "packing" (also "packin' heat") having a "gat" or "iron" or the like, and have been around since Sam Colt's day. Virtually all of the lingo in film noir is euphemism--but that is not S&T either.
