Northeast for now
I talked with a Gettysburg Civil War sutler who sells repro black powder arms and he told me Euroarms USA who made quality Civil War repro arms like the 1861 Springfield rifle musket and 1853 Enfield as well as many others has closed it doors for good.

Went to the Euroarms website. Then I opened a new page and googled EuroarmsUSA. That page came up. However, when I tried to load one of the page categories, I had to go back to the other window to get the page. For some reason, it came up on the Euroarms Europe page.

However, nothing there indicated that the company had closed down.

The Doc is out now.

S&S firearms is advertising they purchased the remaining spare parts from Euroarms. Sounds like they did close down.

That's sad news.

I talked with the Euroarms of America people yesterday and was told that the company is still around but that they will not be producing any black powder percussion firearms, both revolver and rifle. They sold all their production equipment to Pedersoli. What they will produce is unknown but they anticipate a slow start up after researching the present market in percussion firearms...

This is not surprising given the slow state of the economy, the high euro-dollar exchange rate, and the leveling-off of interest in Civil War reenacting. Actually, there are quite a few used Civil War repros floating around out there, as old people leave the hobby and new ones enter. Good places to find them are at sutlers at Civil War events, North-South Skirmish Association events, and some of the larger gun shows.

I have to say that the Euroarms muskets are a notch above those made by Armi Sport, but neither is particularly authentic, placed next to an original. The closest repros to the originals were probably the ones made by Miroku of Japan, but those are generally no longer available.
