Does anybody on this board know of gun laws that exist in europe. Iremeber reading somewhere that in some parts of europe the receivers were not regulated and in fact it was the barrels that they put regulation on. I tried to find an article to verify it, but could not. does anyone know if this is true or not?

In this form, this is FALSE. The EU members must accept a Directive from 1991. According that "EU-law" the registered (main) parts of a firearm are the: receiver/frame, barrel(s), bolt/slide.

Of course not all European countries are EU-members, and there other exceptions*, but the general rule is the above.

*for example in Hungary an old law let you to have deactivated weapons, with frame/receiver unaltered. Therefore I have a full auto AK-47, but a welded/bored barrel in it:)))

Ah; that EU thing ;)

Everyone should take note that the CAFTA thing, and what follows politically later on - the 'AFTA thing, will be similarly aligned.

Just as the European Common Market was planned from the beginning - so has NAFTA been planned from the beginning.
