Does anyone know where I can find information about what types of sights are used on European manufactured handguns? I'm interested in current models as well as those dating back to the early 1940s or late 1930s. Do they use different styles of sights than on those designed by American manufacturers?

This seems like an odd request. Why are you wondering?

In any event other than a Steyr that used an pyramid front and matching sloping in rear notch aperature all the europeans guns I've handled or own are regular blade and notch. This includes the old war time Luger that I got to shoot once as well as the Walther P38's I've seen pictures of. It also includes the CZ's that I own. If they do come with something different then other than Steyr they are generall optional in what they can provide.

Here's a list of what appears to be all of the world makers. Their websites will have technical details including the style of sights for any gun you want to research. Oddly enough I got this list from a google on "european pistols". The right keywords can work miracles.

The European makers use the same types of sights as American makers. There are some who use U or V rear notches, especially in the past. And the high-end target pistols usually have rear sights adjustable for width these days.
