Man uses machete to ward off would-be robbers
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- A Snohomish County man used a machete to defend himself Sunday against three men with guns who tried to rob him at his trailer north of here, the sheriff's office said.
Neighbors armed with a baseball bat and a gun helped fight off the intruders around 7 a.m., sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.
Shots were fired at one point, but no one was hit.
Sheriff's deputies nabbed two of the suspects who left the scene in a car. They had to be treated for wounds from the machete and the baseball bat, Jorgensen said.
One gunman was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of attempted robbery and first-degree assault. Authorities planned to book the other man once he was released from the hospital, Jorgensen said.
Officers were still looking for the third man.
A neighbor was injured in the scuffle, but not seriously, and the man with the machete suffered minor cuts, Jorgensen said
Authorities believe drugs were involved.
