I'm thinking about buying a Feather Rav-9mm (buddy at work wants one too ;-).. The concept seems sound, I've read what I can find on the net and it seems all good. Magazines are plentiful (and can use slightly modified Uzi mags) and fairly inexpensive, I could purchase another wire stock and cut it down for my wife... And they look cool :D

But there is no dealer out here that stocks one, and as of yet I haven't found anyone that has one..

How many people do this kinda purchase? I'd imagine like most manufacturers they have a good warranty, gotta call them and find out though.

I bought my sw99 having never shot one before. My friend talked it up and it seemed quite nice. I held one 3 times then I bought it.

Same guy talked up my monitor, i bought it sight unseen cause how well he touted it. I trust him to say the least...

I have bought many firearms sight un-seen. Agreed to buy one last week sight un-seen.

I have never bought a model of a gun I had never seen before. The stuff I was buying was stuff that I knew all about, just had never seen that particular one before.

I bought a USP a couple of years ago sight unseen from someone 2000 miles away (got to love the internet :D ). Of course I also had a good idea that a HK was going to be a quality weapon ;) .

Feather's design looks interesting.

The funny thing is, they have dealers listed in my area. I call them, and none of them stock it. They said "Hardly anybody even knows about them"... I said, well of course because you don't stock it.

Put a couple of those on the rack and I'd be you'd sell them pretty quickly.

I have bought two guns sight unseen

One was a Smith 1006 and I love it. the other is a two tone Sig 220 and I won't have it till next week sometime.

More than once

Most recently, I purchased a Firestorm Mini .45, never even held one before...but, they seem similar enough to the Mini .40's.

Just found the killer on the Feather Rav-9, only has a 1 year warranty... for a $600 carbine..you'd think it would be durable enough that they could stand behind it for a while longer....

It pays to do the research ;-)

I bought my fullsize P88 never having seen one in the flesh, I was pretty sure it would be a quality gun, though.

braindead, one of my local dealers has had a Feather sitting in his rifle rack for awhile. I should be able to get back over there on Wed and see if it still there and what the price is. It is the basic model with the wire stock. Let me know if you want me to check it out.

I bought my USP40 unseen, but I always try to at least hold the model before buying it. Shooting is always better but not always possible of course. If for some reason I buy something that I really can't shoot for some reason, there is always a fellow gun nut somewhere looking for a deal on a LNIB. :D

Bought a Valtro almost two years ago when it was still a rumor on the boards. Took a chance since I didn't know who John Jardine was and only a few people reported on it. Got lucky I guess.

My fiance saw an ad for an SKS in a free sales paper she picked up. The guy lived in Athens. We drove up there and I looked at it. Now I didn't know squat about SKS's at the time and didn't shoot it. Heck, the guy was putting it together when I got there! I bought it and have loved it ever since.

I've bought several of my rifles (M1 Garand and Mossy M44) sight unseen from the CMP. I've also bid and won a couple of rifles (Romanian M1969 and FR8) on Gunbroker. SO far my luck's held out.

Yup, bought my Kahr MK9 Elite from someone on this forum. Totally happy with my purchase.

For some reason, I trust people here more than gunshop guys.

I just bought a new parkerized Springfield .45 based on reviews here and at TF. Never shot or held one prior to receiving mine. And I still haven't shot mine yet. :)

I'm hoping to have good luck with the CZ40 I just bought....won't get it until Thursday (thanks to Md. law) but I haven't seen it or shot it. I have met the seller though, and have had plenty of pleasant correspondance with him. I trust my instincts about people....and the fact that he has repeatedly offered to meet me anytime to shoot it (we both live near our local range), and has made generous offers to let me shoot his other guns as well.

I feel pretty good about it.

Used up $700 in gift certs. a couple months back thru a dealer 4 hours away. Had him order and ship new Kahr PM9 with night sights to local FFL. Comfortable doing so due to good luck for 6+ years with K-9. And following several threads on the guns here and at Glock Talk. Ain't the internet wundurful? :D

I just bought an FNC sight unseen (well, not totally, I have some emailed pictures) from a guy in NH this weekend. I've bought several other guns sight unseen, but they were new, this is the first used gun I've bought w/o seeing it.

Yep, I have had great success on www.auctionarms.com with buying guns unseen except for the picture provided. The two guns I bought were Norinco Commanders and they were great. The first one was customized by my husband into a beautiful shooting piece and then stolen. I was really hurt so I bought another which was out of the box a very good shooter. It is in the process of being customized into a space age looking oddity which will shoot anything you like in 45 acp ammo. I love weird looking things!

Hell, we do custom work coast to coast for a lot of folks who buy our stuff and they never see the guns until we send them and we have never had a problem so far. I guess quality work is its own reward.

Racegun: Hmm, where are the pics??

Sounds like some interesting stuff.

Modifiedbrowing is going to check out the Feather Rav-9mm at his dealer and get back to me.. At least then I'll have a 3rd party look see.

It seems that most folks who buy firearms unseen are buying something with a known 'pedigree' as it were, these Feather carbines are almost totally unknown.:banghead:

But I want one ;-)
