I don't know if others here have have done this. Sometimes when I have too much time on my hands, I start to look on this forum, in local gun shops and auction sites at used guns. I'm looking for something that captures my interest first.
Then I research it further, then see if I can get it at a bargain price.
I don't need it and was not originally looking for that specific gun. Of couse
if I can get it at a perceived good price, then I have rationalized it to my contentment.
This is starting to get expensive!!!!
Do I have company out there??

all the time, buddy ...

... and far too often. Wife does not want to hear anymore that I picked up a 1000-dollar pistol or a hundred-twenty-five dollar holster because "I haven't bought anything in a long time"

Don't sweat it. Maybe it's a guy thing. Hmm - I just noticed a beautiful Kimber Eclipse at my local dealer yesterday for a killer price -- better go just look at it on the way home from work ...

sure I do.

If you don't believe me, just check THR classified. And I have plenty more where they came from. Hobby, mental illness--it's a fine line. A real fine line.--Tom

Out of boredom? When I had a job that paid well, and I had more than I needed, I would shop out of boredom. I must have been bored a lot because I bought about 15 guns during my last year at that job. Now I'm "income impaired", or "financially handicapped", or perhaps "monetarily challenged", but luckily I'm not bored often. Of course, one would have to be a little bored to be here... no? Perhaps for some excitement I'll start selling some of those guns I accumulated.

My credit cards hate me, but the credit card companies love the interest they make off me. New companies are trying to flock to the feast in the form of junk mail 2-3 times a week.

Traded 2 out for 2 in just yesterday. No real rhyme or reason. Just did it because....I had a day off. So I am guilty as charged.

Gunbroker and a seller who takes a half decent picture is my absolute bane of existence......add a decent deal into the mix and it's all over.

I have a used P226 with Hogue wood grips and the three full caps on the way because of this horrible flaw.

I do have a pretty nice collection though and I am well on my way to collecting the whole set of SIGs :D

I've done it many times..

now, there's a nice full size Randall 1911 in my dealer shelf for $500. I don't need anymore 1911, but thinking about it, makes me kinda...............bored! :D

Buy a gun because I'm bored? No way, never, not on your life. (At least that's what I'd like my wife to believe.) Of course I do, I'm a gun-junkie. I have to get my fix as frequently as humanly possible. Unfortunately, those fixes are getting more and more expensive and I seem to be jonesing for them more and more often.

Take the weekend before last for example (well, actually Friday thru Tuesday). Friday, I bought a Ruger 10/22. Monday, I bought a 5" S&W 625-6. Tuesday, I picked up a Century Arms CETME. That doesn't even get into the hundreds of dollars I've spent on ammo and accessories lately.

Even with all that, I'm already trying to decide if my next gun should be a Glock 21 or a SiG P220. Or maybe a S&W 4506. Of course, my C&R should be here in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll be able to hold out until I can order that Yugo SKS. Or a K31. Or an Enfield. Or a CZ-52. Or a .... Dang, this is going to get really expensive.

Yes, I've been known to buy out of boredom. Or because it's my day off and spending it trolling gun shops is more fun than watching daytime TV or doing the dishes.

Buying, and tinkering with, and selling, guns , is kind of an "escape". I figure money spent in these activities can be properly classified as : "entertainment".

It's healthy. It beats binge eating.

Once... in band camp.... I was bored... and lusted and researched for a Glock .40

I think about firearms all the time when I'm bored. I make up a mental list of all the guns I want, and which would be cool, and whats the new niche etc etc...

Mmm... :p

That is my rationale. I don't "go out". I drive an 11 year old truck. I don't even have movie channels on cable. I have to spend money on something. Of course for the ammount of money I spend on firearms and shooting them every month, I could make a decent boat payment, but they say boats are just a whole in the water you throw money into, so I guess I'll just fish from shore well armed.

Boredom & lust. Looking for the perfect gun. Is there such a thing?

I'm constantly buying, selling, and trading. Maybe I just like the thrill of owning something new. Never really have sold a junker. Just wanted something different.

Thanks guys, it's good to see I have so much company!! For women it's clothes and household items, for men it's mechanical items and toys.

I always have a "back-burner" of purchases to make in times between major gun purchases.
Examples are: more ammo, more ammo and more ammo!:p

What can I say, I did it again yesterday. I was in the local gun mongers', showing one of the guys my new 625 and a cute little Bulgarian girl named Makarov came on to me. So, being the kind fellow I am, I adopted this orphaned immigrant and brought her home. I went in fully intent on not buying a gun, but she was so cute and pitiful sitting there.

Well, if it's gonna be be-honest time, I guess I can pony up with the truth. I'm addicted to firearms, pistols mainly, and can't get enough. Now that SC has done away with the 1/mo law, there's nothing stopping me from buying a bunch.

I don't know what my next pistol will be, but I do know that I don't have a revolver, snubnose or fullsize, and can't decide between Colt and S&W.

Also, with the AWB dying in a few more days, I have to get an AR. I was going to buy a tricked out design, but I think I'm going to get a stock type and modify it as time and ideas allow. Who knows where this will end up.

Somebody help me. :D
