I have this Detective Special from 1978 that is in great condition. I don't carry it but I love to shoot it. I was considering getting it engraved, anybody ever have one done? Pics would be greatly appreciated.

Gee Ric that is a gorgeous lil Detective Special! It looks perfect. :)
At a local gun show last weekend I had the chance to see many engraved revolvers and for my taste it changed the look of the gun too much. The nickel versions looked like those plastic cowboy toy guns.
Now I have seen some stunning engraved and inlayed 1911's but few revolvers that looked good engraved except for one, the Mysterious Vampire gun. A creepy Detective Special that once seen is never forgotten. :uhoh:
Wish I owned it.

If you have to spiff yours up perhaps some gold inlay work instead of the full monty engraving job?
maybe some gold banding around the cylinder and tip and rear of the barrel?

I haven't done it personally, but I have seen (in person and in pics) quite a few that were engraved.

I think the 3rd gen DS is about the nicest looking revolver ever made just the way it is....but if you want to start small, maybe a high polish on the hammer and trigger and a matching silver inlay on the horse....but again, it looks just perfect as is.

That would be slick! I agree with you that the DS III Gen is about as nice looking a revolver as they come. Especially with the grips Ric has on his.

I have Badger grips on it (no more trigger slap) but I still have the originals if I ddecide to engrave it and use it for a safe queen, or leave it to a grandkid;)

Look At This,I Found In A Website That I Dont Remember.
