Ever have stolen guns returned?

I just want to ask , has anybody ever had guns stolen from them returned? With the national stolen gun data base it seems that over a period of time guns which have been stolen should be picked up by police from bad guys. Do gun stores in any state run check to see if numbers show gun was stolen. They SHOULD dont ya think? How come antis never demand this? Why have a national data base of stolen guns? Is data based crossed to police reports or owners DL? Nobody seems to care until theyare a victim, and some even think "oh insurance will take care of it" , MY guns are priceless to me ,I want them back. Whenever I lost one to thieving rats I always bought rat killing guns in their place.

I had two revolvers stolen quite a few years ago by a recently paroled convict. I'd just been stiffed for $5,000 by a client, and was selling guns, eating less, living in a dump, and making frantic telephone calls to my vendors and suppliers, all of whom, by the way, were very understanding, and thought the world of me for paying what I could instead of stiffing them in turn.

To make a long story shortâ„¢, the S.O.B. was captured the larger part of a year later, and still had both of the guns he'd stolen from me. I received a call from an A.T.F. agent, who insisted that I send him original receipts for both guns, not copies, and he'd "see what he could do." I made copies of the receipts, sent him the originals, and waited... and waited... and waited...

The larger part of another year later, another A.T.F. individual called to ask for the name and address of a local gun shop: he couldn't send them to me, but would ship them to an F.F.L. holder. By and bye, my revolvers were returned, both somewhat the worse for wear, both in holsters I'd never purchased.

On the whole, I'm sure if a gun is stolen, it's lost and gone forever; once in awhile, however, you get lucky.

Absolutely...my father had a pistol returned because it had been entered as 'stolen' in the NCIC.

Took a couple of years but he got it back. Other experience suggests that if the 'powers-that-be" can keep the firearm [if it hasn't already been "appropriated" by a LEO, suit or judge], they will. After such "appropriation", you'll get nothing but lying and stalling.

Just another way to steal a citizen's property under the guise of "getting a gun off the streets", the favorite phrase of the DA's office when they are, almost always, in full-fascist mode.

I have a great story about a stolen gun recovery.
As I have mentioned before, I work as a firefighter. My Captain had his house broken into and among other things he had a 1911 stolen. Several weeks later we got a call for a possible bomb. We arrived on scene and found a real big firecracker in the guys car. So we are talking to the police at the scene. It seems that this guy who owns the car took the car to this guys house to have it detailed. When it was done, the guy wasn't satisfied with the work. Things got ugly and the police were called. When the police pulled up, the guy who owned the car took off and ran though the guys house. As the police gave chase, a pistol fell out of the guy's back pocket. The cop had it and my captain said, hey, run the serial numbers on that gun. It came back as his gun. He ended up getting it back a couple months.
