I have a website that I'd like to add more to.
www.is-lan.com/challenge
If any of you know of anyone who has done outreach to non-shooters to try to expand our community, and therefor future voters to help us out, please let me know about them. I want to add a section to the web site outlining these ideas. Each idea will have as much detail as possible so that others can copy their efforts.
I really think that it wouldn't take much effort to double the number of people who have had positive exposure to firearms.
If new and especially young people aren't recruited onto our side, then we'll eventually lose. That's a simple fact. We could win every battle we fight, yet still lose the war if we don't pursue this avenue.
One example I'm working on and will add to the site soon:
Get permission to setup an indoor BB-Gun range in an underground parking lot to a building. Run newspaper ads and setup a one page website explaining the operation. The range would be almost free, maybe $1-2, and would emphasize exposure, safety training and a take home handout package. There would also maybe be shooting contests at the end of the day or following day. The range would be open Saturdays once a month and BB-Guns and ammo would be included. -This would be setup completely privately and at the mercy of no "officials".
