The Raleigh News & Observer is usually a little more left-of-center than I'm comfortable with, but I was really impressed with their work on this article - especially the parts about the positive influence that shooting can have on kids.
I've been to Deep River a few times myself. Even though I'm not what you'd call 'serious' about sporting clays, and I've never had the pleasure of meeting the owner, I've always enjoyed myself a great deal. It's an extremely friendly environment for families, first-time-shooters, and people who are new to sporting clays.
