Just sharing a quote on a RKBA topic...

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press...ss-briefing-press-secretary-jay-carney-862012

From about 3/4 of the way down:

Q: Just returning to guns for a moment. You’ve said, in response to a bunch of questions, that he supports enforcing -- better enforcing existing laws. His position in the past has been in favor of renewing the assault weapons ban, which would, at this point, be a new law. He also said in New Orleans that AK-47s belong on the battlefield, not on the streets. Does he still support that legislation?

MR. CARNEY: He does. And I’ve said that before from the podium in the last week, that he does support renewing the assault weapons ban. ...

Big surprise! Actually I'm a bit surprised he'd actually come out and say it before the election.

I'll be surprised if this latest admission that he wants to renew the AWB costs him any more votes than it already has in the past. Ever since before he was sworn in, people have been claiming "he supports the Second Amendment!" even as plans to renew the AWB were plastered up on his official site!

Thanks BluEyes

It's always good to get the facts back out there as often as possible with this administration.
Any engaged, half-conscious american knew this to be the case.

Barry and his support of the AWB could be an episode on the Captain Obvoius Show.

From the first and the last fourth of the briefing, my general impression is that Jay Carney did his best to avoid any technical details/specifics regarding either an "assault weapons ban" or "high cap. magazine" ban.

This was despite reporters' multiple efforts to push him into elaborating on the theme. Other than repeatedly combining "protecting sec. amendment rights" with "common sense", and that the president "discussed that with the Urban League", the only clear admission Carney seems to have made was to reinstate "the assault weapons ban". Carney was unwilling to discuss what potential future legislation is in the works to tighten gun control.

Do most of the reporters realize that the previous "AWB", from at least my impressions, allowed citizens to buy AK clones, but they had no features such as bayo lugs, suppressors etc? Even though new post-election legislation might attempt much more, reporters today seem to treat the phrase "AWB ban" or ban of large (100-rd.) drum mags as the "cure all" to most problems, do they not?

I doubt that he would get any legislation to support/approve in the foreseeable future. My fear is that, if he gets a second term, that he will create his own "Laws" with executive orders just like he violated current law on immigration with his amnesty by executive order .
