I own a Beretta model 96D and they have the the longest trigger movement until the mechanism resets and can be fired again. It may be required by the design, but if anyone knows of a gunsmith who can significantly reduce this distance I would be much obliged.

If anyone has already asked this, my apologies.

Part of the trigger safety..

...

The movement, slack, which you can see on the top of your slide, is the firing-pin block device being opened. Look at the top of the slide when pulling the trigger, watch it rising up (small round piston-like) that allows the gun to fire or, IF, for any reason the hammer fell before it rises up, would prevent the gun from firing..

With that in mind, choose wisely,

excessive trigger travel

Lonestar49,

The firing pin is blocked by the mechanism you described until the last bit of rearward trigger movement, but the excessive trigger travel that bothers me is the excessive amount of travel forward of that point. If I could somehow cut the front portion of that trigger travel in half I'd be happy.

I am looking for a modification to limit the forward part of the trigger travel and have the trigger reset a lot sooner. By reset, I mean get ready to fire again.

I have a model 96, but your model 96D is a double action only version of the gun. Your trigger travel overall is going to be long since every shot is double action. I suspect what you are looking for is a single action type trigger?

if you own a double action revolver then dry fire for @ 1 week and shoot a few sessions with the revolver double action only and this will train your hands and mind to accept the double action only trigger on the Beretta D models
